Beside phytomedicine (herbal treatment) and Chinese Medicine, homeopathy is one of the three major disciplines in naturopathy.
It was founded by the Saxon physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) who, through experiments on himself and his friends and family, discovered that the same medicament which cures a sick patient, evokes sickness in a healthy person.
Hence, the famous phrase emerged: Similia Similbus Curentur (You may cure with similar similar).
This approach conflicts with allopathy, which takes a contrary direction of action, namely fighting the symptoms without regard to the cause of disease.
In homeopathy, mineral, herbal and animal substances are administered in highly diluted potencies. Thus, the natural self-healing processes of the patient are underpinned and stimulated.
Homeopathy always considers that every human being produces individual symptoms and implications, hence the extensiveness of anamnesis.
A large number of physical disorders can be treated with homeopathy.
